POP Christmas Charity Ball 2018
One hundred and forty guests who attended the first Power of Parenting Children Charity Ball at the prestigious Great Fosters Hotel Surrey, in the presence of the Bracknell Mayor Alvin FINCH, saw the event raise a staggering £19K. With a target of breaking even or possibly raising 5k the organisers were amazed with the response.
This will make a significant difference to foster children and their families in Bracknell and Berkshire.
With a background of saxophonist, singing waiters and a comedian the guests danced until midnight to celebrate the work done by the charity for foster children and their families. 12 foster families where the events special guests, having an evening out paid for by the sponsors Berkshire Property Services in Fernbank road Ascot and PRS Haulage in Colnbrook.
During his speech, Paul the Founder of Power of Parenting explained he had been contacted by a local care home manager about a young care leaver with a number of serious mental health issues, who was in need of a computer so that he could do online courses, training and education to enable him to get a job. Before Paul could return to his seat there had been three offers to purchase the computer for the young man.
Another individual came forward with support for the charity by helping with the purchase of a 7 seat vehicle. This will enable the foster families who have more than three children to get around.
As a result of the evening there have been opportunities to work with a number of local business people to progress the charity further and even the potential to start POP charity in Surrey.
Offers of help and support from the people present who are prepared to give their time to the charity is very humbling and exciting.
Quote from the founder
"As a very small local charity struggling to get attention, the result of this event has meant we have now been promoted from the lower leagues to the first division and the premier league of fund raising now beckons."
